23 April 2004
Anthony and Pat arrived San Francisco shortly after noon to attend a conference.
Kelly Chang took the visiting guest to have an afternoon walk near the Golden Gate Bridge after
having a light lunch in the Sunset district. It had just rained the day before and the view across the
Bay was simply breath-taking. Anthony recalled he walked the same bridge with our classmates
Nelson Wai Joe Tak and Wong Kin Ting more than 20 years ago on a foggy and damp afternoon.
A drastic difference in terms of visibility now and then.

After the relaxed bridge walking, Kelly took the Laus to their lodge: Mark Hopkins Hotel, on top
of the hill on California Street, near the intersection of two SF Cable Car lines.

The Laus then ventured down the hill and enjoyed some fresh half-shell oysters from a seafood
joint on Polk Street. The shop was closing so they had to bring the oysters back to their hotel room
to eat. Along the way back, they picked up a bottle of Champagne from Cala Supermarket to be
consumed with the fresh oysters.

The Changs picked up Pat at the hotel to their house. Pat had her very first job of looking after the 5lb toast
being baked in the oven, while the Changs had to go to SFO to pick up Simon and Jamie Cheng who
were arriving from Hong Kong.

After the Chengs checked in their room at the "Changs Lodge", the ladies were busy  helping preparing
lunch.
