Crossing the bridge from Seaside to Astoria. The water is so calm that the surface shines like a mirror under the sun. Where is that "small craft
advisory" silliness by the weatherman? Have faith in Kelly/Salina's charm :-)

The Chang's are busy getting lunch from a nearby KFC

Carrying supplies onto the marina dock

Salina helping Tom in organizing the supplies.

Lots of food but can't eat yet
as it's late for crabbing. That's an order, everyone on board have to follow :-(

Captain Tom starts the engine "Varrrrooommmm"

Out she goes, leaving Astoria

Smiles on all faces, but grinding stomachs deep down
their bodies

The water is fine and not windy at all. Kelly was right, wind is only 1-5 knots!

Ready to drop anchor ...

View from inside the chain chamber. One of S.I.T.'s
jobs is to make sure the anchor chain is not tangled

Tom prepares the crab cage ...

...stuff in the mackerel as bait

... tying the bait cage with tie-wraps

down it goes to the bottom of
the sea, about 40-45 ft deep

Teddy helping Tom in tying the cage by the port side

Down goes another cage by the starboard side

Finally, the green light to consume food!

All (except Tom) swallowed the KFC chicken within minutes

Tom eats like a gentleman. 'cos he had 3 buns in the morning

First catch of the day!

Tom measures the crab using an approved device ...

... It's declared a catch!!

A female crab (identified by the oval abdomen n) has to go back to sea :-(

The ladies wait patiently on board

Tom tries his luck on the salmon catch ...

There gotta be one salmon still feeding, it's the largest salmon run in decades

Another crab catch

The number of catch is 3

Another female that has to be
returned to the water

"What is that big thing?" yells
Tom (read the story about Tom's battle with that "big thing")

Several females are returned

Each take turn to have the honor of "returning catch to the sea"

Total catch: 7 crabs

Birds and seagulls hovering above knowing the fisherman must have some leftover baits

Small crabs not meeting the catch-size definition have to be
returned to nature also

Kelly helps with the clean up
and enjoys the fun feeding the birds with leftover baits

All smile on the way back to Astoria

What's the white towel for, some sort of celebration?

After each trip, the sidings are cleaned. More good news to cheer -- Ducks won over Michigan!

All enjoy eating the fresh crab caught from the ocean

Dinner: crab with noodle

What a dinner on board! Party's on!

Anthony and Pat, where are you?
With the Lau's not present,
the 2 crabs intended for them are
de-shelled by Catherine and
Bernardette

A close-up look of the crab-meat
extracted from two crabs -- only
with the skillful hands of Cat

Dessert time: Tiramisu prepared by
Cat, imported from Vancouver, Canada
